Packaging Automation takes legal action to protect Eco-cut kit
By Simeon Goldstein Thursday, 18 September 2008
Packaging Automation (PA), the heat-sealing equipment manufacturer, is taking legal action to protect the trademark of its Eco-cut equipment.
PA sales manager Neil Ashton said the Cheshire-based firm had found "one or two direct competitors" had been using the Eco-cut name and had taken some of the design into their own machines.
The Eco-cut machine is used to heat-seal fresh foods and ready meals. It is designed to reduce film usage and waste, by increasing the number of packs that can be processed from a single roll and using thinner gauge films.
The company has registered the trademark for the machine, which took around two years to develop.
PA's Eco-cut machine is due to be on display at the PPMA Show at the NEC later this month.
