Fujifilm helps Severnprint reduce waste

Co-founder David Pealing (left with Severnprint co-founder Nigel Pealing) said that the company had been trying to find ways to reduce its alcohol and water consumption to meet self-imposed environmental targets.

He added that the firm, which had trialled and then switched to the original PRO-T plate in July 2007, had been impressed by the stability and consistency of the latest version during on-press development.

Andy Thomas, senior printer and printroom team leader at Severnprint, said the makeready was "exceptionally short", with the press ready to start printing after just eight sheets.

He added that the plate was comparable in price with other plates and could produce runs of up to 50,000 with "no issues at all", while also reducing the printer’s water consumption.
