BAF Graphics' BBC work at Quay House
BAF adds colour to BBC's new Salford site

London-based BAF Graphics has completed the main part of a massive project to decorate the BBC's MediaCityUK complex at Salford Quays.
The 40-staff company's biggest contract to date involved almost all of the workforce at various points since it started in March 2011 and, while the bulk of the work is complete, the team is still putting the finishing touches in line with any last minute changes or additions requested by the BBC.
"We've effectively had a full-time team of installers up there," said BAF Graphics' business development director Antony Baglioni who added that the pressures to fit out the buildings on schedule was fierce. "From the latter part of spring and through summer they started moving people in floor by floor, so we had to ensure the installation was carried out snag free."
The work involved up to 5,000sqm of interior graphics, such as wall coverings for more than a mile of corridor, working alongside the project manager Overbury and design agency ID:SR.
The company used its Durst Rho 351 and 600 machines as well as its Océ Arizona and HP cut vinyl printers to produce graphics on substrates such as Digimura Smooth for walls and optically clear film for wall and glass panelling.
Baglioni said that the project "is one of the largest digitally printed interior projects undertaken in the UK. Matching outstanding quality graphics with time critical requirements was a big but stimulating challenge."
