Trelleborg appoints Bob Whitney to handle sales of metal-backed blankets
By Melanie Defries Tuesday, 17 January 2012
Trelleborg has appointed Manroland's former national blanket manager Bob Whitney to establish a direct sales channel for its Vulcan metal-backed blankets and sleeves to newspaper printers in the UK and Ireland.
His appointment from 1 February follows the announcement that BFS Pressroom Solutions and Stehlin Hostag Inks have both been signed up as UK distributors of Trelleborg's Vulcan blankets for commercial printing.
Trelleborg printing blankets manufacturer Thomas Linkenheil said: "We have dedicated additional resources to support all Rollin and Vulcan customers previously served by Manroland/Printcom distributors following the unfortunate news that in late 2011, Manroland AG declared insolvency."
Trelleborg's products include the Vulcan Metal Aqeuous metal-backed printing blanket, which was launched at IFRA Expo 2011.
It is designed to reduce the low-quality ink transfer and poor registration of colours that is often associated with coldset printing, and to improve the press’s efficiency.
