Blundell: Pleased
Communisis lauds positive 2011 in face of struggling economy
By Adam Hooker Wednesday, 25 January 2012
Communisis has said that it had a positive 2011, despite the current financial plight facing the industry and the UK economy as a whole.
The Leeds-headquartered business issued a trading update today, ahead of the release of its preliminary results to 31 December 2011 on 1 March.
In the update, Communisis announced that it picked up additional work from Nationwide at the end of the year, which it estimates will take revenue from the contract up to around £10m in 2012.
As part of the contract, it has taken on 15 employees at Nationwide's facility in Swindon under TUPE.
Trading for the full year was in line with the board's expectations, while the company reported a strong second-half performance.
Chief executive Andy Blundell told PrintWeek: "We are pleased to be able to continue to execute a progressive communication strategy, and this is resonating with customers despite the current economic backdrop.
"There are concerning headlines out there and we hope this bucks the trend. It is a positive message."
He added that further contract wins would be announced in the 1 March results.
Communisis' share price has this morning risen 6.6% to 28.25p.
