EFI launches Vutek TX3250r dye sublimation printer
By Tim Sheahan Wednesday, 25 January 2012
EFI has confirmed that its dye sublimation printer, the EFI Vutek TX3250r, is now commercially available.
The 3.2m machine builds upon EFI's FabriVu print concept, introduced in 2002, which targeted textile production on an industrial scale.
Showcased in the UK last year, the TX3250r can print in eight colours and in various output modes from 42sqm up to 84sqm per hour.
The machine could output up to 100sqm per hour on certain materials, such as polyester-coated rigid or flexible substrates.
Scott Schinlever, senior vice president and general manager of inkjet solutions at EFI, said that the TX3250r will help customers capture part of the soft signage and flag market.
"One benefit is the ability to print on textiles, opening new markets for customers while expanding existing capabilities," he added.
Using dye sublimation technology, the printer dyes fibre directly and is claimed to offer brighter colours than other textile printing methods.
The TX3250r also prints completely without odour, which broadens the amount of production environments that the machine can be installed in.
According to EFI, the machine – which is available now – has received "significant" interest from customers across Europe.
