By Melanie Defries Tuesday, 10 January 2012
Commercial printer Herbert Walkers has installed the UK's first Bobst Expertfold carton folder gluer that includes a capacity fold device.
The West Yorkshire-based printer, which employs more than 100 people, offers a range of services including mail order, greetings cards and financial documents. It has installed the folder gluer as part of a bid to expend into the cartonboard packaging sector.
Andy Christie, sales director of Herbert Walkers said: "The capacity fold device can produce packaging and folders with a fixed capacity of between 2mm and 15mm. There are many sectors where our ability to offer this service will be invaluable, both from a turnaround point of view and for the inevitable cost savings it will generate for customers."
The Bobst-designed unit can be added to Bobst Visionfold, Expertfold, Ambition or Media folder-gluers.
Herbert Walkers has invested more than £3m in production, equipment and facilities in the last three years, including Heidelberg Prinect workflow and a Suprasetter S105.
