Alpha Colour Printers lands Gloucestershire NHS contract
By Tim Sheahan Monday, 09 January 2012
Alpha Colour Printers has landed a three-year contract expanding its print work for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Gloucestershire and the 2gether trust.
Alpha, which was previously producing the work alongside another print company, secured the entire contract through a competitive EU tender.
Although the company could not place a figure on the value of the three-year deal, managing director Jeff Williams said the win was "great news" for the Gloucester business.
The contract comprises "hundreds of thousands" of documents such as leaflets, brochures and other official literature for the NHS bodies.
Williams said: "Obviously we are delighted to win this contract against some pretty stiff competition. Initially there were hundreds of companies after the business although in the final stages it was down to about five or six.
"In the end it came down to a combination of the sheer quality of our work using the latest technology and equipment, the high level of service we give and of course, most importantly for the NHS, value for money."
The company cited its up-to-date pressroom that includes a £1.1m Heidelberg Speedmaster XL75 and a Ricoh C901 Graphic Arts Edition digital press installed last year.
David Oldfield, operations director at Alpha added: "The NHS is an excellent client to have in our portfolio and fits well with other quality clients such as Gloucestershire County Council, Worcestershire County Council and Cheltenham Borough Council."
"Our proven experience in these areas is sure to have contributed to our success in winning this important contract."
The 32-staff business has already taken on two new members of staff this year and, according to Williams, plans further equipment investments in 2012.
